The Mere

This has to be one of our favourite projects and a perfect example of how clients, designers and contractors can work in collaboration to achieve fantastic results. From York stone, to New York style glazing and from staircases to door handle choices, being involved in all elements of the design and material selection is very rewarding.

With views like these the rewards are plenty. Often a "wall of windows" is seen as the best treatment for a dramatic view, however richer experiences are often found in views that are discreetly selected, framed, screened or even denied. Each view from the house gives a different perspective over the water. We particularly love the view from the entrance hall; throughthe glazed office wall to the tall slim windows, it is fascinating, intriguingand tempts us to want to view more.

The Woodlands

The absolute replacement dwelling. Another carefully considered application for a replacement dwelling in the green belt, but this one is something special. The clients had a very clear vision for their forever family home, all we had to do was deliver that for them. Sat in a prominent location, the large glazed gable makes full use of the wonderful views, in contrast the enclosed views from the family rooms and kitchen are subtle and inviting.

Victoria Court

Where concept becomes a reality. Our concept for this site was to create semi detached houses that appear to be larger detached dwellings. To create variety in the elevations and avoid a repetitive pattern of development. Taking strong emphasis from the neighbouring dwellings, the mixture of timber and render against the red facing brickwork, gives a modern twist on a classic building style.

The Junction

A firm favourite for Byatt Oliver, bringing old tired buildings back to life. This old parade of shops and restaurants needed morethan just a facelift, it needed a new identity. Our concept to change the silhouette and material pallet for the building, matched our proposal to rebrand the site at "The Junction", now fully let, the building has a new lease of life and is now a prominent feature on the townscape.

Copper Beeches

This grand double gabled property is the perfect family home. A replacement dwelling in the green belt and open countryside. Planning permission can often be a challenge, however overcoming these obstacles is something of a speciality for Byatt Oliver. With well thought out approach andcarefully considered design they are often welcomed by the planners.

The Dutch Barn

When is a barn not barn? Applications of barn conversions are quite commonplace, however replacing a barn and applying for change of use at the same time is not so common. Permission has been granted for the demolition of an existing barn and construction of a new "Dutch" style barn which can be used for a holiday let.

Ash House

Tapered or restricted development plots are common with infill one off developments. But if considered correctly can result in a well configured development that enhances the proposed and the neighbouring dwellings. The main constraint for this site was the differing building lines, using the new building footprint appropriately meant that both building lines were maintained.

Northwood Properties

Bringing buildings back to life is what inspires us the most. We refurbished this 1970's iconic building, to create a luxury new HQ for Northwood Properties. This tired building required a new identity to provide a warm inviting space for the Northwood staff and clients. We worked closely with Steve and Debra to establish their requirements, whilst still working within the constraint of the building and the Northwood Brand. The scheme was welcomed by Stoke on Trent City Council and approval was granted in October 2013. Work starting on site in December 2013 and was complete in under 14 weeks. We were commissioned by Skin Health to assist with the fit out of the new premises following a disappointing result from a local architect practice. The challenge was to provide sufficient treatment rooms within the existing footprint. The client had a clear identity for the building and many of the components that were required to make this space exceptional. We worked with these to develop the concept. We selected and managed the contractor in Manchester city centre to a tight contacted brief and timetable  A fantastic facility in the heart of the city centre. Historic buildings given a new purpose. With town centre living becoming more popular and the Local Authorities promoting city centre culture, there seems to be no better time to invest in apartments. This scheme re-establishes some historic residential uses and creates new residential uses above the existing retail shops, with its courtyard and dedicated entrances this apartment development offers a more social development.

The Warehouse

Bespoke city living. A conversion of this existing building known as "the warehouse" into 12 apartments. Working with existing buildings can always be a challenge, and this one certainly required some new building techniques. A completely new building was formed within the existing four walls, with a new steel frame and solid concrete floors capped with alightweight standing seam roof.

The Webberley Building

One of Stoke on Trent most Iconic buildings, Webberley's bookstore has had many uses over the years. Starting out life as a free trade building then occupied by the Webberley family from the 1920's being used as a bookstore, stationary and printing business. 2016 was the start of a new era for the impressive five storey building. We aided with the sale of the building, by providing sketch layouts for alternative uses, and seeking pre-application advise from the Local Authority. The building sold within a short space of time and the conversion to apartments has now been complete.

If you have an old building which may benefit form a change of use, then please feel free to give us a call to discuss your options.

Zion House

Zion House, a former community building suffered fire damage in March 2009 and subsequently remained in a state of disrepair until August 2013. We were commissioned by the client initially to undertake a feasibility report to establish if there was any potential for the site and what type of scheme would be most suitable. Following numerous options it was agreed that a scheme for the refurbishment of the building, to create 5 luxury apartments. would be most appropriate.  Planning approval was granted in January 2014, and the client decided that with our assistance the refurbishment would be self managed. The project was complete by February 2015 with all properties fully let. A success due to the hard work and commitment of the construction team and the clients.
